Holy floating Candles Batman!

I was out the other day and Found a rather interesting little candle set. It arrived Yesterday and now sits in Our bathroom. The three candles come in the glass containers complete with ornate flowers, afterwards you simply fill Up the container With water and away you go, I personally find the whole idea of floating candles quite beautiful. As I Sit here writing this I brought them down and can't Help losing my focus as I watch The candles float atop the waters surface, Oh well so much for concentration.

I haven't tried the idea yet but it wouldn't be to far-fetched to substitute the candles supplied with the set for Another custom one If you wanted to mix and match the colours for Different effects. I Especially like the thought of mixing the colours to create more Unusual designs. So while I sit in the bath Reminiscing about the good old days.

Each time I go out in search of candles or interesting finds to write A blog about it always gets me excited. I mean how often Do You get to search the vast catacombs of forgotten markets and charity shops in search of fancy new candles and other charming items. You never realise just how Overwhelmingly vast the creative minds of our species is. Up until just over 200 years ago man kind didn't even have electricity it's Remarkable to think how far we've come in Such a small amount of time.

Ah but look at me prattling on about the Endeavours of the human race on a Light hearted candle blog. Perhaps I should start another more Fitting to my random philosophical moments and Save you all the ear ache when all you're here for are the candles right?

If your interested in the floating candles please do leave a comment and I'll perhaps share some more information.

Food for Thought

On my travels across the almost infinite cosmos that is the internet I always keep an eye out for strange and unexpected buys and recently came across this lovely little beauty! Now I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a bit of a foodie, so when this little gem caught my eye how could I refuse.

When it came to me I was pleasantly surprised with the detail in the candle right up to the wick the sweetcorn retains it's shape. The candle holder is well designed and has been lovingly crafted with a subtle green finish giving a gorgeous sheen when the light hits it. This has found a firm home on my dinner table since I got it I especially love how the wax almost mimics that of butter melting down it's side to give such an authentic feel to the piece. Absolutely outstanding craftsmanship if I do say so myself.

So with that I leave you with an image of a small sample of my candle collection for you fine folk to enjoy!.

For the Glory of Candles

Well it HAS been a while hasn't it? I bet you're all wondering where that old candle guy ran off to after his last riveting blog. Am I right??? no?...no ok. Well let me tell you anyway! After a rather stressful time at the office me and the Mrs decided to take a holiday, our first one without the kid (well she's not really a child any-more but you wouldn't think it the way she behaves sometimes). So we went to spain, lovely holiday it was. lots of sand lots of sun and lots on exotic cocktails. The wife was especially keen on those let me tell you. All In all it was a fun few weeks.

But I digress this is after all and candles blog so it just wouldn't do to not give you what you came here to see. Whilst we were on holiday me and the Mrs went to visit the beautiful caves of Drach. Aside from being pleasantly cool in the caves which is always a bonus, half way through the tour we are seated on a outcrop as three marvellous boats glide down along the underground lake followed by hundreds of tea lights. The way they just lit up the cave was breath taking I tell you. It's easy to forget the strength of a good candle when you only have one or two but 10? 50? 100? the strength and warmth they give off all working together to shine brightly in the darkness of that cave. I don't think I'll ever forget it.

So in short; never underestimate the power of a good tea light!

Cactus candles

This little candle set would make a pleasant addition to anyone's home. It's like those little cactuses you use to decorate in your kitchen except they won't die when you water them to much. The set comes in the planter box and the wax dirt really just adds to the whole deal. I bought these a few days ago and they've become a quick favourite of mine.

They work well together as a set but also individually so you can have a candus in every room. (see what I did there, Catus, candle, Candus) but what I really love about these is their vibrant colour and the amount of detail that has gone into their designs. It's almost a shame to light them and ruin the artistry that went into making them. These lovely little cacti were made with just standard coloured wax but I think it would have been nice if they had been made with scented candles instead. Just imagine it. lighting up your cactus and having a nice earthy fragrance fill the room.

I really can't fault them. As soon as I got them home I fell in love. I might even by some more for the bathroom.

Lightsaber

Get it? because it's a candle. No? just me then.

I'll admit this right now. I'm a bit of a Star Wars buff. Got all their films even got little model figurines of the main cast. So what a pleasant surprise it was to find this little beauty. Admittedly this is more a review about a candle holder than a candle but my inner nerd got the better of me.

The candle holders come in a variety of different shapes. From Sith lords to Jedi knights you can have your own little jedi battle right on your dinner table. Just make sure they aren't lit first. We don't want to be starting any fires. With the addition of coloured candles you can replicate your favourite characters with just a quick change of a candle. These little gems are a great addition to any house hold. They're classy, streamlined and just pleasant to look at really. Coloured candles are cheap to buy so it really is an affordable investment.

The downside really is that it only comes in one size, whilst it stays true to the cannon I must admit I'm a fan of my chunky candles. I like to mix and match my sizes on the dinner table and the light sabers really only allow for the one type and they don't work well with other none Jedi accents.

Still I bought five of these myself and now have my own bright little Jedi army whenever friends come over.

                                                Crackling Candles

Crackling candles are these interesting little creations. Most are usually of the scented variety. The wooden wick in the centre gives off a pleasantly earthy smell as well as adding to the centre piece and it's name sake. The wick itself crackles the sound is pleasant and not at all overbearing.
The candles themselves come in a variety of scents; vanilla, lavender and berry are some of the most popular but the recently released multi scented candles are becoming a quick contender. Which brings us to the particular candle of today's review.

The Hersheys Smore crackling candle was a pleasant addition to the candle family. It has a pleasant scent and it's three tiered flavour effects blend nicely with one another. It's one con would be that it doesn't smell all that much like the chocolate that shares it's name. The smell is warm and musty with a definite cocoa undertone but when compared to the Hersheys chocolate.

To summarise the candle is a pleasant addition to anyone's home but it's title is a tad misleading and artificially bumps up it's price. You could just as easily settle for a nice vanilla and cocoa combi set. But if you have the money to spare I would say it's well worth a go at least.
